A two-storey library of 10,000 books instead of a lobby
Arrival at The Archive happens through the library rather than a reception hall: two storeys of shelves rise from the ground floor, wrapped by a spiral staircase, holding around 10,000 physical books meant to be borrowed and read. The check-in desk is built from bound volumes, with a backlit catalogue wall behind it. The reading spaces continue past the lobby — a Reading Lounge next door, sound-insulated Writer’s Rooms with doors that close properly, and a Reading Salon on the roof with a fireplace and deep seating.
Two outdoor levels: garden at the base, pools on the roof
The building’s outdoor life is split between two levels. At ground level, a landscaped garden runs the length of the plot, with floating cabanas set over a shallow water feature, sunken seating, a mini golf course, a kids’ play area and a dedicated pets’ area. The roof holds separate adult and kids’ pools, a terrace garden, a BBQ lounge and an outdoor cinema with a fireplace and firepit. Indoors, the gymnasium follows Imtiaz’s Raw Theory health concept, alongside relaxation lounges and changing rooms.
